Fire alarm systems

Guardian Alarms are able to supply the following systems throughout New Zealand:

Type 2 – Manual fire alarm system

A single or multiple zone system with an alarm panel to provide defect warning, zone index diagram, and is suitable for connection to the NZ Fire Service. A manual fire alarm system is only activated by manual operation of a manual call point.

Type 3 – Automatic fire alarm system activated by heat detectors and manual call points

A type 3 system comprises a Type 2 system plus heat detectors with automatic signalling to a remote receiving centre. The system can be manually operated by a manual call point.

Type 4 – Automatic fire alarm system activated by smoke detectors and manual call points

A Type 4 system comprises a Type 2 system plus smoke detectors with automatic signalling to a remote receiving centre.

Comment: Smoke detectors should not be located in spaces where the activity within that space (eg a kitchen or smokers bar) is likely to initiate a false alarm.

Type 5 – Automatic fire alarm system with modified smoke detection and manual call points

Type 5 is a variation of the Type 4 and Type 7 alarm systems requiring part of the smoke detection component to comprise only a local alarm. The local alarm system, activated by the presence of smoke, shall have audible alerting devices to warn only the firecell occupants (i.e. household units or individual suites) and the building management where such management exists.
